Stella International is increasing its production capacity by 20 million pairs and diversifying its global footprint as it prepares to open three factories in the Far East. The Chinese Hong Kong-based company has big plans for the second half of 2026, when three factories in Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Vietnam will begin operations. Last year, the group also acquired a high-end leather goods manufacturer in Vietnam. In 2025, Stella shipped 55 million pairs of shoes, an 3.8% increase compared to 2024.
3 new shoe factories in the East
In the second half of the year, Stella plans to bring three new production facilities online. A second 3-million-pair shoe factory in Bangladesh, in addition to the one inaugurated in 2013. Another 10-million-pair sports shoe factory will open in Indonesia, where the group has had a 7-million-pair production site since 2021. Finally, also in the second half of this year, the opening of a new factory in Vietnam is scheduled, with a production capacity of 1.5 million pairs dedicated to premium sports customers. Overall, Stella writes in the note accompanying the first-quarter 2026 results, the new factories will increase production capacity by approximately 20 million pairs of shoes in the coming years.
The Network
The company states that its clients include luxury brands (such as Prada, Balenciaga, and Jimmy Choo), as well as fashion brands (including Michael Kors and Coach) and sports/casual brands (such as Nike, Saucony, and Timberland). In 2025, business in the luxury sector fell by 6.3%, fashion declined by 9.8%, while sports rose by 9.5% and casual by 0.8%. Since 2014, with Tapestry, Stella has also begun producing handbags. In addition to diversifying its production geographically, the company plans to expand its leather goods production to make it “a key growth driver”.
