The global leather industry gathered at APLF Leather & Materials 2026 from March 12–14 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, marking a key moment for the sector. Under the theme “The Great Reset of the Leather Industry,” the fair highlighted both ongoing challenges and renewed momentum. As one of the most influential global platforms for leather, materials, and components, it attracted a diverse mix of exhibitors, buyers, and associations, including a strong delegation of 44 companies from UNIC Italian Tanneries.
The event also delivered solid business outcomes, with nearly 1,000 meetings held through its business matching programme, involving over 90 buyers from 65+ countries—reinforcing its role as a global deal-making hub.
Innovation remained central, with discussions spanning sustainability, compliance, design, and pricing. At the same time, the industry continues to navigate uncertainty, driven by geopolitical tensions and disruptions in key shipping routes such as the Strait of Hormuz, alongside increasing pressure from EU sustainability regulations.
Indian exhibitors reported positive engagement while maintaining a cautious outlook amid global volatility. Despite some participation challenges, the fair retained strong international presence, underlining its continued importance.
More than a trade event, APLF 2026 reflected the resilience of the leather industry and Hong Kong’s role as a gateway to Asia. The next edition of APLF Hong Kong 2027 is set for March 31 – April 2, 2027, continuing the industry’s forward momentum.
