According to statistics, from January to April
2026, the leather industry has an export value of USD 25.47 billion, decreasing by 6.5%, while the imports
amounted to USD 5.15 billion, increasing by 4.3% year-on-year.
Tanning Industry
From January to April 2026, imports of raw hides
and skins were 0.505 million tons in quantity, increasing by 1.7%, and USD 0.40 billion in value, decreasing
by 4.9% year-on-year. 0.2 million tons of semi-finished leather were imported, bringing in a decrease
of 10.8%; imports valued to USD 0. 26 billion, decreasing by 20.1% year-on-year. Imports of finished leather were 11,000 tons in quantity,
and USD 0.17 billion in value, down by 9.0% and 5.1% respectively year-on-year.
Footwear Industry
From January to April 2026, the exports of footwear
products amounted to 2.75 billion pairs in quantity, bringing in a decrease of 5.1%; and USD 12.33 billion in value, decreased
by 10.3% year-on-year, while the imports of footwear amounted to 48.01 million pairs in
quantity and USD 1.67 billion in value, decreased by 21.1% and 2.9% respectively
year-on-year.
Among them, the exports
of leather shoes amounted to 0.15 billion pairs in quantity, bringing in a decrease of 1.7%; and USD 1.98 billion in value, decreased
by 10.8% year-on-year. The imports of leather shoes amounted to 12.989 million pairs in
quantity, and USD 0.69 billion in value, decreasing by 17.4% and 2.3% respectively year on
year.
Leather Garment Industry
From January to April 2026, the exports of leather
garments amounted to USD 38.60 million in value, up by 42.8% compared to the same period last year, while the imports amounted to
USD 42.957 million in value, with an increase of 31.5% year-on-year.
Bags and cases Industry
From January to April 2026, the export value of
bags and cases was USD 9.55 billion, decreasing by 4.0% year-on-year, while the import value of bags and cases was USD 1.98 billion, increasing by 18.6% year-on-year.
