General Situation
According to statistics, in 2025, the sales
revenue of key enterprises of China leather industry decreased by 13.1% from
the previous year. The Leather industry has
an export value of USD 82.72 billion, decreasing by 10.9%, while the imports
amounted to USD 15.53 billion, decreasing by 10.2% year-on-year.
Tanning Industry
In
2025, the sales revenue of key tanneries in China reached a total sales revenue of 52.6 billion RMB, decreased by 9.8% year-on-year.
In 2025, imports of raw hides and skins were 1.419 million tons in quantity, and
USD 1.13 billion in value, decreased by 4.7% and 15.8% respectively. 581,000
tons of semi-finished leather were imported, bringing in a decrease of 6.1%;
imports valued to USD 0.84 billion, decreasing by 18.1% year-on-year. Imports
of finished leather were 36,000 tons in quantity,
and USD 0. 57 billion in value, down
by 15.6% and 15.7% respectively year-on-year.
Footwear Industry
In 2025, the sales revenue of key footwear enterprises decreased by 15.4%
year-on-year. The exports of footwear products amounted to 9.02 billion pairs
in quantity, bringing in a decrease of 2.0%; and USD 41.55 billion in value, decreased
by 11.3% year-on-year, while the imports of footwear amounted to 0.17 billion
pairs in quantity and USD 5.43 billion in value, decreased by 15.5% and 9.0%
respectively year-on-year.
Among them, the sales
revenue of key leather shoes enterprises decreased by 19.3% year-on-year. The
exports of leather shoes amounted to 0.52 billion pairs in quantity and USD 7.22
billion in value, decreased by 5.7% and 11.6% respectively year on year. The
imports of leather shoes amounted to 53.566 million pairs in quantity, and
USD 2.46 billion in value, decreasing by 22.9% and 16.9% respectively year on
year.
Leather Garment Industry
In 2025, the sales revenue of the key leather garment enterprises decreased by 9.9%
year-on-year. The exports of leather garments amounted to USD 0.13 billion in value, up by
3.3%
compared to the same period last year, while the imports amounted to USD 0.12billion in value, with an increase
of 2.9% year-on-year.
Bags and cases Industry
In 2025, the sales revenue of key bags and cases enterprises decreased by 8.2% comparing
to the previous year. The export value of bags and cases was USD 29.89 billion,
decreasing by 13.5% year-on-year, while the import value of bags and cases was
USD 5.25 billion, decreasing by 6.2% year-on-year.
