Italian companies BeDimensional and Dermacolor have developed Dermasoft Climaflex BDM, a tanning auxiliary incorporating two-dimensional crystals to improve leather performance.
According to tests on treated leather, the formulation increases burst and tear resistance, with improvements of up to more than 80% on certain leather types. It also improves heat dissipation, reducing surface temperature by up to 5°C, without requiring changes to traditional production processes.
The product combines BeDimensional’s technology for producing and integrating two-dimensional crystals with Dermacolor’s expertise in leather processing. It is intended for applications including automotive, footwear, clothing and technical leather goods.
The partnership is also linked to BeDimensional’s planned new production plant in Collesalvetti, Tuscany, within the Interporto Toscano Amerigo Vespucci.
