Iliprandi becomes UNIC’s 19th president, succeeding Fabrizio Nuti, and will serve alongside vice presidents Matteo Mastrotto, Fabrizio Nuti and Gianni Russo. Outlining his priorities, Iliprandi said he would focus on strengthening collaboration across the leather supply chain, increasing the sector’s representation at European level and promoting leather education and skills development, particularly among younger generations.
The Assembly also marked eight decades since UNIC was founded in 1946 with the launch of RADICI (“Roots”), a commemorative book documenting the history and evolution of the Italian tanning industry through archive material, photographs and personal testimonies.
The anniversary comes at a challenging time for the sector. According to UNIC, Italian tanning production declined by almost 6% in value and 4% in volume during 2025, while exports fell by 5%. The number of companies and employees also decreased, reflecting continued pressure on the industry despite Italy retaining its position as a global leader in high-quality leather manufacturing.
