According to filings at Companies House, Andrew and Nicholas Muirhead, alongside Michael Carnachan, were appointed directors of Aerotech at the end of March, coinciding with the resignation of founder Graham Whiteman. The Muirhead division of SLG specialises in manufacturing mass transport leathers including for the global aviation sector.
Aerotech specialises in UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Part 21G Production Organisation Approval (POA). Its integration into SLG enhances the group’s in-house certification and production capabilities, enabling more streamlined delivery of fully certified aircraft interior components. The move is expected to reduce lead times and simplify processes for airlines and OEMs.
Stephen Ritchie, Sales Director Aviation at Muirhead, described the deal as a pivotal milestone, adding that incorporating Part 21G approval will allow the company to certify and deliver compliant aircraft interior components directly to customers, offering greater assurance, flexibility and a faster route to market.
