On September
3-4, 2025, the "2025 China Leather Industry International Designers Forum
& General Assembly of the China Designers Commission of CLIA," hosted
by the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) and organized by its China
Designers Commission, was grandly opened and successfully concluded in
Shanghai. Under the theme "New Horizon for Fashion·Smart Blueprint for
Future," the meeting gathered leading industry figures, renowned
designers, experts, scholars, and enterprise directors from across the globe to
explore new design languages and paradigms emerging with the wave of
intelligent technology. This collective effort aims to propel the profound
transformation of China's leather industry from "scale manufacturing"
towards "value creation."
The meeting was
addressed by an opening speech from Li Yuzhong, Vice President of the China
National Light Industry Council and Chairman of CLIA, and was chaired by Zhang
Yan, Secretary-General of CLIA.
The proceedings
began with a ceremony presenting certificates to 18 newly appointed members of
the China Designers Commission of CLIA for 2025.
This was
followed by a series of insightful keynote speeches delivered in sequence by:
Ms. Dorota, renowned Polish fashion designer, Presidential Economic Advisor, and
founder of the international luxury brand Dorota Goldpoint, on the topic
of "Creating Beauty in Harmony with Nature";
Ms. Wu Haiyan, Professor at the China Academy of Art and a recipient of the Golden
Top Award, who spoke on "The New Core of the Leather Industry: The
Integration of Art and Technology";
Ms. Wang Yaohua, Vice Dean of the Graduate School of the Beijing Institute of Fashion
Technology, who provided a professional interpretation of "Research
on Fashion Trends in Apparel Products";
Ms. Du Fumin, Trend Researcher from the China Fashion & Color Association, who
presented the "Analysis of International Color Trends for
2026-2027".
Following the
keynote speeches, a roundtable discussion was held under the theme "Breaking
the Cocoon· Intelligent Creation-Safeguarding and Breakthroughs in
Original Design in the Al Era." The roundtable discussion was chaired by
the rotating chairman of the China Designers Commission of CLIA, Dean of
Wenzhou Fashion Institute, and Second-Level Professor of Wenzhou University, Li
Yunhe. The discussion featured five distinguished guests: Ms. Dorota; Zhang
Laiyuan, Secretary-General of the Art and Design Teaching Guidance Committee of
the Ministry of Education; Wan Xianghua, Assistant to the Chairman of C.banner
International Holdings Limited; Zhu Weixiang, General Manager of Zhejiang
Xuebao Clothing Co., Ltd.; and Diao Mei, senior fur fashion designer and
practical education expert in fur fashion design. The panelists engaged in
in-depth discussions on two primary topics. First, regarding the application of
intelligent data, they emphasized that the aesthetic creativity of designers
remains an irreplaceable competitive advantage, while also highlighting the
necessity to reconfigure the competency model for design talent in the
contemporary era. Second, concerning breakthroughs in original design, the
discussion underscored the critical importance of four key aspects: a shift in
mindset, systemic support, talent development, and the establishment of a
robust design ecosystem.
