Italy has been chosen to host the IULTCS World Congress 2029 after the International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies (IULTCS) Executive Committee unanimously approved the country's bid.
The proposal was presented by Tomaso Pellegrini, recently elected president of the Italian Association of Leather Chemists (AICC), and highlighted Italy’s leather industry, integrated value chain and plans for a congress focused on innovation, sustainability, the circular economy and digital transformation.
The programme will also include technical visits to key Italian leather districts and opportunities for scientific and industrial collaboration.
The 2029 congress will coincide with AICC’s 125th anniversary. The bid received unanimous backing from all 20 voting members of the IULTCS Executive Committee, with preparations now set to begin, including the appointment of an organising committee, selection of the host city and development of the scientific programme.
Tomaso Pellegrini, President of AICC, said: “We are honoured by the confidence placed in AICC and the Italian leather community. We look forward to welcoming colleagues from around the world and delivering a congress that promotes scientific excellence, innovation and international cooperation.”
