Camper goes shopping in Greece: the brand has acquired a majority stake in Ancient Greek Sandals, known for its collections of high-end leather sandals handmade in Greece. Nothing will change from the point of view of the Greek company’s management, nor its independence. Following the acquisition, brand’s co-founders Nikolas Minoglou, current CEO, and Christina Martini, creative director, together with partner Yiannis Vagenas (brand manager), will be minority shareholders and will remain in their roles.
Camper goes shopping in Greece
Camper, a family-owned company originally from
Mallorca and founded in 1877, announces the acquisition of a majority stake in the luxury footwear brand Ancient Greek Sandals. According to some media outlets such as
Business of Fashion, the stake acquired amounts to 60% of the share capital. The Greek company, founded in 2012, is headquartered in the industrial area of
Inofyta (Viotia), about 60 kilometers north of Athens, and
will allegedly continue to operate as a fully independent brand, preserving its Greek identity. Camper estimates 2026 revenue of 275 million euros, up from 255 million the previous year. Ancient Greek Sandals recorded revenue of 10 million in 2025.
Fully expressing its potential
“The partnership with Camper represents a dream come true for us”, explains Nikolas Minoglou, CEO of Ancient Greek Sandals, in the press release issued by Camper. He continues: “From day one, Christina and I have been driven by a passion for the history of Greek footwear. Joining forces with a historic, family-owned company like Camper gives us the logistical, technological and commercial support we need to fully express our potential, while maintaining the freedom to remain creatively independent. We couldn’t be more excited about the journey ahead”.
On his end, Miguel Fluxà, CEO of Camper and a fourth-generation member of the founding family, commented: “Welcoming Ancient Greek Sandals into our family represents an extremely exciting milestone for us”. This is the first brand acquisition for the Mallorcan group, which in 2022, together with mountaineer Kilian Jornet, launched NNormal, an outdoor brand focused on high performance and environmental sustainability. The financial terms of the agreement weren’t disclosed, with negotiations having started at the end of 2025. At of now, Camper has no plans for further acquisitions in the near future. “Most of Ancient Greek Sandals’ production will remain in Greece, although a small part may be moved abroa,,” Minoglou said.
