Conceria della Vallarsa is investing in solar energy and, with the installation of 858 panels, has equipped itself with a 403 kWp photovoltaic system. But that is not all. The Trentino-based company is also positioning itself at the heart of the Vallarsa Renewable Energy Community (CER), a network of just under 100 households, businesses and associations established by Sorgenia together with Fondazione Vallarsa and Vallarsa Energia Benefit. According to its promoters, the initiative stands out at national level, where renewable energy communities typically average around eight participants.
Conceria della Vallarsa invests in solar energy
Conceria della Vallarsa, which already uses energy generated from renewable sources, gains advantages for itself while also contributing to an initiative that will benefit the wider community. The company will use part of the energy generated by the system through a dedicated supply agreement, though not all of it. The surplus energy will benefit members of the Renewable Energy Community through a shared self-consumption mechanism. Conceria della Vallarsa is not stopping there and is already pursuing further energy-efficiency projects, including the introduction of a steam generator to reduce both LPG and electricity consumption.
Environmental benefits
The initiative will first and foremost help Vallarsa reduce its dependence on fossil fuels. “The annual output of the system”,
says Sorgenia, “will
save approximately 80 tonnes of oil equivalent and
reduce emissions by around 200 tonnes of carbon dioxide every year”. There are also social benefits: “Thanks to incentives linked to shared energy schemes, the energy community will be able over time to support
social projects and initiatives aimed at more vulnerable people”.
