Digital
data management system: 73 collection points, a
capacity of 1.2 million hides, and 27 storage sites across 17 provinces. Salt for preservation is being distributed, and 600 workers have been mobilized. Eid al-Adha 2026 (May 26–30) is approaching, and
Algeria is investing in the quality of raw material collection for the tanning industry. According to
local press reports, the state-owned Getex group has invested in upgrading the infrastructure that will be responsible for storing the
sheep hides resulting from ritual slaughter.
The quality of the hide collection
The cornerstone of the system set up by Getex is its digital infrastructure, as it will enable the coordination of teams, real-time monitoring of trends at collection points, and the tracking of materials. This “efficient and organized management” of the operation, explains the state-owned company (whose scope of activity also extends to textiles and finished products) is part of a broader effort to “harness a valuable local resource”. To this end, Getex plans to distribute salt to operators, while the digital system will provide monitoring capabilities with regards to its availability during the three-day festival.
