Belgian fashion designer Pieter Mulier has been appointed as the new Chief Creative Officer at Versace, marking a turning point for the luxury brand following its acquisition by the Prada Group

His appointment will be effective from the 1st of July, and he will report to Versace chairman Lorenzo Bertelli. Mulier has been tasked with overseeing the turnaround of the brand, which has suffered from declining sales and an unclear identity.

“When we considered the Versace acquisition, we identified Pieter Mulier as the right person for the brand. We believe that he can truly unlock Versace’s full potential and that he will be able to engage in a fruitful dialogue with the brand’s strong legacy”, said Lorenzo Bertelli.

The Belgian designer joins us from a successful period at Alaïa, where he was appointed creative director in 2021, becoming the first person to hold this position at the house since Azzedine Alaïa’s death in 2017. He has also worked at Raf Simons, Jil Sander, Dior and Calvin Klein.

He will fill a position vacated by Dario Vitale, whose brief tenure as Versace’s creative director ended shortly after the Prada Group’s bid to acquire Versace from Capri Holdings was finalised in December 2025. Image Credits: theimpression.com
