Jordan’s leather and garments exports saw a small dip in the first ten months of 2025 as pressure from the US market slowed overall momentum even as several high value product segments continued to grow.
Data from the Jordan Chamber of Industry shows exports from the sector touched JD1.428 billion (~$2.01 billion) between January and October compared to JD1.453 billion (~$2.05 billion) in the same period last year marking a 2% year on year decline.
Leather goods, travel items and handbags exports grew 76%. Natural and synthetic furs and related products grew 52% pointing to rising demand for higher value products.
Footwear and parts dropped 28%. Raw and tanned leather exports fell sharply by 41%
The leather and garments sector remains a major pillar of Jordan’s industry. It contributes around 42% of total industrial output and includes nearly 1,000 factories employing about 96,000 workers.
