A Chinese Taiwan headquartered tanning group is building a new tannery in Indonesia and expanding its manufacturing footprint in Southeast Asia. The new facility will begin production in 2026.

Hung Fu Leather Co Ltd, which also has an existing wet-blue and finishing tannery in Vietnam, is building a new 42,000 sq m tannery in Indonesia to supply bovine leathers for the footwear and apparel markets. The company will start from retanning at the Indonesian site, focusing on cow suede and PU split, the same product mix as its Vietnam operation.
The company supplies leather to around 20 global brands and retailers such as PVH, Clarks, Zara, Wolverine, Nike, adidas, Asics, Reebok, Puma, New Balance and Coach, supplying leather for sports and casual footwear.

Established in Chinese Taiwan in 1990, Hung Fu’s existing manufacturing plant is located in southern Vietnam with an annual capacity of 65 million sq ft. The company expects to ship 55 million sq ft in 2025, and in 2026 will also start pig nubuck production in Vietnam.

Hung Fu has been awarded LWG Gold since its membership in 2011 and has a full in-house physical testing laboratory approved by TUV and SATRA, with its quality control team being fully certified by SATRA leather grading.
