Situation
According to statistics,
from January to June 2026, the leather industry
has an export value of USD 40.91 billion, decreasing by 5.4%, while the imports
amounted to USD 7.9 billion, increasing by 4.9% year-on-year.
Tanning Industry
From January to June 2026, imports of raw hides
and skins were 749,000 tons in quantity, increasing by 7.0%, and USD 0.6
billion in value, increasing by 2.9%. 295,000 tons of semi-finished leather
were imported, bringing in a decrease of 5.9%; imports valued to USD 0.4 billion,
decreasing by 14.8% year-on-year. Imports of finished leather were 18,000 tons
in quantity, and USD 0.27 billion in value, down by 2.2% and 5.0% respectively
year-on-year.
Footwear Industry
From January to June 2026, the exports of footwear
products amounted to 4.29 billion pairs in quantity, bringing in a decrease of 4.6%;
and USD 19.83 billion in value, decreased by 8.6% year-on-year, while the
imports of footwear amounted to 74.573 million pairs in quantity and USD 2.58
billion in value, decreased by 17.3% and 2.3% respectively year-on-year.
Among them, the exports
of leather shoes amounted to 0.24 billion pairs in quantity, bringing in a decrease
of 3.3%; and USD 3.28 billion in value, decreased by 8.7% year-on-year. The
imports of leather shoes amounted to 21.207 million pairs in quantity, and
USD 1.1 billion in value, decreasing by 14.7% and 2.0% respectively year on
year.
Leather Garment Industry
From January to June 2026, the exports of leather
garments amounted to USD 68.683 million in value, up by 41.4% compared to the same period last year, while the imports amounted
to USD 64.76 million in value, with an increase of 31.3% year-on-year.
Bags and cases Industry
From January to June 2026, the export value of
bags and cases was USD 15.48 billion, decreasing by 3.1% year-on-year, while
the import value of bags and cases was USD 2.88 billion, increasing by 13.6% year-on-year.
