Bally is ending production in Switzerland. The remaining 27 employees at its Caslano headquarters are set to lose their jobs. After the summer, only the offices — where around 100 people are employed — will remain. But local trade unions fear that further redundancies could also affect that department. The downsizing imposed by US investment fund Regent LP, which acquired the Swiss brand in mid-August 2024, continues. Regent had already shut Bally Studio’s subsidiary in Lastra a Signa, near Florence.
Bally ends Swiss production
The last 27 employees still working at Bally’s Caslano site in Switzerland received their redundancy letters last week. Since taking ownership of the brand, US-based Regent has cut 65 jobs at the Caslano site. It then closed the Italian subsidiary and discontinued the activities of the Bally Foundation, based at Villa Heleneum in Lugano. Now, the dismantling of Swiss production is complete with the dismissal of the final 27 factory workers.
27 redundancies
“Tomorrow we will sign the social plan, which has already been agreed to”, OCST trade union representative Luca Robertini told
RSI. The agreement includes
a clause extending the social plan for 12 months — a provision that had been negotiated during the previous round of redundancies last September, in anticipation of what has now happened. After next summer, only the offices will remain at the Caslano site. “There are already rumours that there will probably be cuts there as well”, the union representative said. “It appears that whoever bought the brand intends to keep it, so something will remain. Whether that means 10 people or 100, we simply do not know”.
