General Situation
According to statistics, from January to October
2025, the sales revenue of key enterprises of China leather industry decreased
by 6.8% from the previous year. The Leather
industry has an export value of USD 68.71 billion, decreasing by 9.9%, while
the imports amounted to USD 12.68 billion, decreasing by 11.8% year-on-year.
Tanning Industry
From January to October 2025, the sales revenue of key
tanneries in China
reached a total sales revenue of 43 billion RMB,
decreased by 10.4% year-on-year.
From January to October 2025, imports of raw hides
and skins were 1.174 million tons in quantity, and USD 0.93 billion in value, decreased
by 4.3% and 16.4% respectively. 487,000 tons of semi-finished leather were
imported, bringing in a decrease of 5.7%; imports valued to USD 0.71 billion,
decreasing by 17.1% year-on-year. Imports of finished leather were 30,000 tons in quantity, and USD 0.47
billion in value, down by 15.6% and 16.5% respectively year-on-year.
Footwear Industry
From January to October 2025, the sales revenue of
key footwear enterprises decreased by 5.5% year-on-year. The exports of
footwear products amounted to 7.42 billion pairs in quantity, bringing in a decrease
of 1.7%; and USD 34.51 billion in value, decreased by 10.0% year-on-year, while
the imports of footwear amounted to 0.14 billion pairs in quantity and USD 4.41
billion in value, decreased by 15.1% and 10.1% respectively year-on-year.
Among them, the sales
revenue of key leather shoes enterprises decreased by 7.6% year-on-year. The exports
of leather shoes amounted to 0.43 billion pairs in quantity and USD 6.06
billion in value, decreased by 4.8% and 9.6% respectively year on year. The
imports of leather shoes amounted to 43.292 million pairs in quantity, and
USD 1.97 billion in value, decreasing by 23.9% and 18.8% respectively year on
year.
Leather Garment Industry
From January to October 2025, the sales revenue of
the key leather garment enterprises increased by 7.8% year-on-year. The exports of leather garments reached USD 100 million,
with the value remaining essentially unchanged compared to the same period last
year, while the imports amounted to USD 97.329 million in value, with a decrease
of 1.4% year-on-year.
Bags and cases Industry
From January to October 2025, the sales revenue of
key bags and cases enterprises decreased by 17.3% comparing to the previous year. The export value of bags and cases was
USD 24.84 billion, decreasing by 12.9% year-on-year, while the import value of
bags and cases was USD 4.26 billion, decreasing by 8.9% year-on-year.
