Kazakhstan is set to get a major boost with a new edible gelatin plant from Turkey. On November 18, 2025 Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparov met with Bilal Alkoç, Chairman of Iskefe Holding, to discuss the investment project.

The Turkish company plans to start building a high tech plant in 2026 with an annual capacity of 7,000 tonnes. The project is valued at 22.5 billion tenge (~USD 44 Million)

Minister Saparov highlighted the project’s strategic value for the country’s processing industry and the use of leather raw materials.

Currently, Kazakhstan has 11 enterprises processing hides. But only 5.9% of raw hides were processed in 2024 while 7.7% were exported and 86.4% remained unclaimed.

The state already supports skin and wool processing with investment subsidies, mobile shearing complexes, and tax breaks.

The 2024-2028 plan includes creating over 70 wool collection points and around 200 mobile shearing complexes to boost processed raw materials and Kazakhstan’s role in global leather and gelatin markets.

Iskefe Holding says the plant will create jobs and expand high value added exports.

This project marks a key step in modernizing Kazakhstan’s processing sector and increasing its export potential.
