General Situation
According to statistics, from January to September
2025, the sales revenue of key enterprises of China leather industry decreased
by 2.8% from the previous year. The
Leather industry has an export value of USD 63.12 billion, decreasing by 8.8%, while the imports amounted to USD 11.54 billion, decreasing by 11.6% year-on-year.
Tanning Industry
From January to September 2025, the sales revenue of key
tanneries in China
reached a total sales revenue of 41 billion RMB,
decreased by 4.7% year-on-year.
From January to September 2025, imports of raw hides
and skins were 1.06 million tons in quantity, and USD 0.84 billion in value, decreased
by 5.1% and 17.2% respectively. 438,000 tons of semi-finished leather were imported, bringing in a decrease
of 5.0%; imports valued to USD 0.65 billion, decreasing by 16.1% year-on-year. Imports of finished leather were 28,000 tons in quantity, and USD 0.43 billion in value, down
by 15.7% and 16.9% respectively
year-on-year.
Footwear Industry
From January to September 2025, the sales revenue of key
footwear enterprises decreased by 1.3% year-on-year. The exports of footwear products amounted to 6.76 billion pairs in
quantity, bringing in a decrease of 1.2%; and USD 31.85 billion in value, decreased
by 9.0% year-on-year, while the imports of footwear amounted to 0.13 billion pairs in
quantity and USD 4.09 billion in value, decreased by 13.6% and 9.0% respectively
year-on-year.
Among them, the sales
revenue of key leather shoes enterprises decreased by 3.7% year-on-year. The exports of leather shoes amounted to 0.39 billion pairs in
quantity and USD 5.58 billion in value, decreased by 3.7% and 8.3% respectively year on
year. The imports of leather shoes amounted to 40.781 million pairs in
quantity, and USD 1.82 billion in value, decreasing by 21.5% and 17.5% respectively year on
year.
Leather Garment Industry
From January to September 2025, the sales revenue of the
key leather garment enterprises increased by 8.2% year-on-year. The exports of leather garments amounted to USD 94.344 million in value, down
by 1.7% over the previous year, while the imports amounted to USD 85.018 million in value, with
a decrease of 3.6% year-on-year.
Bags and cases Industry
From January to September 2025, the sales revenue of key
bags and cases enterprises decreased by 10.7% comparing to the
previous year. The export value of bags and cases was USD 22.79 billion, decreasing by 11.5% year-on-year, while the
import value of bags and cases was USD 3.83 billion, decreasing by 9.6% year-on-year.
